Impakt faktor je metrika společnosti Thomson Reuters udávající, kolikrát je každý text z daného časopis průměrně citován (zjednodušeně řečeno). Čím vyšší je hodnota, tím více se časopis považuje za uznávaný. Impakt faktor u textů v sociálních vědách je vypočítáván u časopisů, které jsou indexovány v databázi Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) v rámci citačního rejstříku Web of Science.
